We All Need Soul Insurance

Soul Insurance sounds great so far - there are lots of benefits and features that make it a policy like no other.  Actually, the term "Soul Insurance" is just an analogy we use to describe salvation, and we all need it.  But why?

The truth is that God loves each and every one of us.  He longs for us to love Him too, and to have a personal relationship with him.  And even though God desires for us to have a relationship with Him, this is impossible in our natural state because mankind's connection with God was broken when sin first entered the world through Adam (Rom. 5:12).  Since then, we have all been born into sin, thus separated from a holy God and subject to the penalty of that sin, which is death (Rom. 6:23).

But there's good news!  God loves us so much that he provided an out for us.  He knew that even with our best efforts we would fall short of the payment for our sins (Rom. 3:23).  So he allowed his Son, Jesus Christ, to pay the penalty of sin for us.  Jesus came to earth through a virgin birth (Matt. 1:18) and lived to adulthood completely sinless.  At the appointed time, he was crucified and died on a cross.  In his death, he took all of the sins any of us would ever commit and paid the penalty (death) for them (2 Cor. 5:21).  The transfer of our sins to Christ on the cross cost him the penalty of those sins - death and separation from God, His Father.  But God had a plan that would allow the penalty to be paid yet life still given.  Jesus died, but he didn't stay dead.  God rose him up on the the third day!  And in his resurrection, he conquered sin and death and made a way for us to be restored to God (1 Pet. 1:3).

We need salvation (belief in and acceptance of Jesus Christ) because it's the only way we can be restored to God.  His Son died in our place; we could have never done anything in our own power to have a relationship with God.  But through faith in Christ Jesus, we can.

Now the question remains.  Are YOU covered? If you have ever sinned (and we all have), you need to be.
